Melaka International School (MIS) was the brainchild of Allahyarham the late, Dr Mohamed Ishak Syed Ahmed and his wife Mrs Shamsunnisa Ishak. MIS was established in early 1993 the support of the State Economic Development Corporation and The Melaka Foundation, modelled on the British school system. The School was located in Jalan Taming Sari and had a modest beginning with two kindergarten students. It later on offered elementary and secondary education. With an increased number of students and teachers, it moved to a bigger site on Jalan Kubu.
In 2004, work began on a present five-acre site at Taman Siantan in Tengkera with a vision to have a school with a world-class infrastructure while incorporating features to create awareness in global warming. Two acres of the land has been converted into an organic farm with features like solar energy power, rainwater retention pond to recycle water, recycling of organic waste and organic fertilizer.
